Happy Easter

New Life and Hope!

What does Easter mean to you? This was the question of the weekly Sunday bible study Mr. Martian and I do together. Today we were in a bit of a rush with making carrot cupcakes and installing brackets for a new microgreen watering system (I bet you can’t guess who’s doing what?:)) before Easter dinner later with my family, so Mr. Martian just asked this simple but profound question. It would be so easy for me to answer with the well-known statement that Jesus died for my sins and resurrected to give us a new life with Him for eternity, but that would be overlooking the chance to dig a little deeper and reflect what it really means to me and if I truly believe that.

One thing I love about my husband is that he has taught me to dig deep and challenge myself if I truly believe in what I am saying or am I just saying it to say it. I am a "people-pleaser" to a fault. It is very easy for me to say things just to make others happy. This is something that Jesus has been helping me overcome with the help of my husband…I prayed to for God to give me a strong man, and I got it (be careful what you pray for:))! Thankfully I had already used his wisdom to reflect on this question this morning in my morning prayer before he asked the question.

Jesus is light! Could you imagine a world without the light of Christ? I wouldn’t want to! In my short walk here on this earth I have found nothing that gives me that same peace, hope, joy and light found anywhere else or in any other religion than the light I find with Christ! I am thankful that because of what Jesus did for us, suffering and dying on the cross, I CAN be forgiven for my sins. I don’t have to keep beating myself up for my wrongs (although, I still have a hard time not doing this); I get to receive Jesus’ mercy, not just for peace now but the promise to spend eternity with Him even though I don’t deserve it!

Mr. Martian’s answer to the question was…”Hope…there’s more to life than being born and walking on this earth. There is something else afterwards. He wins!! He took our place…we deserve to be there. He didn’t”. Well said Mr. Martian, well-said! We get to place our hope in Christ for the here and now and for all of eternity! There could not be a greater gift this Easter!

Christ has given the gift of new life! A life free from the sins that weigh us and the hope that we get to spend eternity with Him! We are blessed to have so much life around us on the ranch…dogs, cats, horses, cows, trout, and new life sprouting from each microgreen seed! I am thankful that I am made new in Him because of his suffering, death and resurrection from the tomb so many years ago this Easter! I am thankful that each day is a new opportunity to abundantly enjoy the life and the life around us that He has blessed us with!

‘Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die” Do you believe this?’ (John 11: 25-26)

Scripture for thought: John 12:46; John 18, 19, 20, 20:31
