The Raymond Ranch Update!
Things have been moving like a fast-moving train around here! Mr. Martian has been working non-stop to meet all of our goals before winter. I’ve been busy with planting, harvesting, processing and delivering microgreens. Things are coming together on this crazy project of ours, both literally and figuratively. God is good!
Construction has been happening in the white-house! Mr. Martian put in an awesome processing station for me (check out more details at therealmartian.com). This already has and will save me A LOT of time! This means we have the ability to gain more customers without my going totally crazy;). He has also been busy putting in the two new grow lanes for a total of four. He is almost complete. This morning I even moved one of the big trout into a new grow lane and the poor guy flopped right out of the net and landed on the ground. I felt so bad and may have even screamed a little;). But he made it safe to his new home and after gathering his bearing (and me mine:)) swam away. Thank goodness! The goal is to get all four grow lanes operational with microgreen shelving (more on this in an upcoming post), insulation in the whitehouse and a heating solution before winter…so I and the plants don’t turn into pop-sickles! Whew, that’s a lot, but we are on the right track!
Speaking of more customers, we now have a total of four! Three restaurants and Rosaures (one of our local grocery stores)! If you live in the Gorge you can find our microgreens at Celilo, White Salmon Bakery, The Riverside Grill (Best Western) and Rosaures. Just on Friday I leaned that all but three containers of our microgreens sold in one week! The produce manager stated they looked just as fresh in one week as they did on the day we brought them in…thank you Jesus! I even delivered our second batch! Making sure we are delivering as quality product as we are able has been a bit stressful for me so to hear the positive feedback was a huge blessing! There’s even talk of doing a demo table at Rosaures to inform people on what we are doing and about microgreens! One of the blessings from this project that I didn’t anticipate is getting to be such a part of our community. As challenging as things have been this is definitely something that I very much enjoy! Sure, talking in front of people is not my strong point but it is good to push myself and it will be worth it! God is using this project in more ways that I ever imagined!
I can’t forget to tell you about darling Darla. She was born on June 19th when Mr. Martian’s parents were in town. It was great for them to be able to share in the experience with us. She is so cute…running around like she doesn’t have a care in the world! We are so blessed to be surrounded by life…dogs, cats, horses, cows, chickens and fish! Hmmm…I wonder what our next animal will be;). As for now, I think we better keep things where they are:).
God has been so good to us! We truly believe that his project is from Him. We believe that if that if this wasn’t from God things would be a fight and doors would be closing…but they keep opening and don’t seem to be closing anywhere around us. So we will keep on going until He says stop…and that doesn’t appear to be anytime soon:).
“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-His good, pleasing and perfect will” (Romans 12:2).
“…What he opens no one can shut, and what He shuts no one can open. I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut…” (Revelation 3:7-8).
Scripture for thought: Hebrews 13:20-21
